CDM Coordinators Need Coordinating
Posted on May 6, 2014
The HSE are currently reviewing the CDM regulations, including some serious changes that will affect anyone who uses a CDM coordinator.
The role of CDM coordinator may actually be removed altogether and the people doing the health and safety will be expected to muck in and take up the role.
There are naturally good and bad sides to this happening;
- Firstly a lot of people who work solely as CDM coordinators may have to look for alternative employment;
- The people doing the health and safety will suddenly find a lot more work that they have to do;
- The changeover will cause a lot of confusion; however, there will be one less party to deal with;
- The people doing the health and safety will have a better idea of what is actually happening on site;
- In theory, the whole process should be a lot smoother once teething problems are out of the way.
Overall we believe the changes are going to work well and will make life easier for everyone.
