Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015
Posted on March 10, 2015
The Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 come into practice on 6 April 2015, here we have outlined some of the most important changes:
- There will be an increased client responsibility which extends to all construction activities;
- Introduction of duties for Domestic Clients;
- The Principal Designer role is introduced with duties to ensure the client complies with the Regulations;
- CDM Co-ordinator role abolished and much of their role is taken by the Principal Designer;
- Replacement of CDM Coordinator by a Principal Designer for the planning, managing, monitoring and coordination of pre-construction phase health and safety;
- Principal Designer and Principal Contractor will be required on all projects where there will be more than one contractor working on the project;
- Construction phase plans are required for all projects although it is expected the CPP will reflect the size or complexity of the project and on small projects it could be one page;
- The strict “competence requirements” have been removed but it is expected the old competence levels will be maintained;
- Change to the HSE’s Notification level – F10 is now only required for projects lasting more than 500 person days, or lasting more than 30 days with more than 20 workers simultaneously.
