Ear Protection in a Silent Warehouse
Posted on May 6, 2014
The HSE (Health & Safety Executive) have recently advised warehouse managers against compulsory ear protection for all workers. As studies have shown that making people wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when it is not required has been known to reduce productivity in the workplace.
At a recent industry safety conference a HSE inspector, Sarah Haynes, reiterated the point that PPE for noise and vibration should be risk assessment based.
Remember it is important to conduct assessments in a number of different areas of the warehouse. This will enable you to determine the appropriate level of PPE required for each task.
