Health and Safety Gone Mad Again?!

A Supervisor at a branch of the supermarket chain Waitrose, has refused to allow a member of staff to fillet a trout.
The supervisor told the bemused customer that the fish could not be filleted because it was too slippery! Claiming health and safety rules prevented them from filleting slippy fish, even though Waitrose own website states ‘just ask if you’d like your fish skinned or filleted’.

Fortunately the customer complained to the Health and Safety Executive, so we were able to have any debate ended by a spokesperson. The statement said it is reasonable to expect this service to be available at fishmongers counter at any supermarket, adding that slippery fish were a fact of life.
