Unsafe working at height

When we attend work at height training, we all laugh at pictures like this (left) and think that it wouldn’t happen in this Country.

How wrong we can be! It was reported in the March Issue of IIRSM (International Institute of Risk & Safety Management), that Lancaster Magistrates heard the 69-year old pictured had no harness or safety equipment.

And it would appear that he is standing on the mid-rail of the cage – oh dear.  The self employed men involved were fined £8,000 plus costs of £1681, bringing the total cost of this unsafe act to £1981!
